Axxon PSIM selected to provide security for Atlantis The Palm luxury hotel resort in Dubai

Client

Atlantis The Palm is a luxury hotel resort in the United Arab Emirates, located at the apex of Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah. Opened in 2008, the 1,548-room nautically-themed resort has two accommodation wings consisting of the East and West Towers, linked by the Royal Bridge Suite. The hotel is distributed across 46 hectares (4,951,398 sq. ft), 17 hectares of which are water parks. Atlantis The Palm is one of Dubai’s major tourist attractions, boasting one of the most expensive suites in the world. It welcomes more than half a million visitors each year.

Challenges

Due to technology expansion and the release of the new guidelines for CCTV in UAE specifying how and where recording devices and cameras should be fitted and under what conditions, it was decided to replace the outdated NVRs that had been installed at the time of the hotel’s inauguration.

In the initial stages of the project, AxxonSoft was competing with almost all top CCTV brands around the world. Ultimately, Axxon PSIM emerged as the top choice, thanks to its product features, user-friendly interface, integration and fault tolerance capabilities, coupled with excellent technical support.

Solution

The high-availability video surveillance system comprises 16 servers—14 active and 2 failover to enhance system resilience, being designed to automatically take over all functions from any off-line or malfunctioning server. A huge video wall displays the feeds from 2,050 analog and IP cameras distributed across all active servers.

Results

Currently, the client only requires general surveillance, which Axxon PSIM is able to completely provide. In the future, the CCTV system may be integrated with third-party systems (such as access control, fire/burglar alarms) and enhanced with video analytics (license plate and facial recognition, for instance). The client will be able to manage all components of the security system via a single Axxon PSIM interface.
