Axxon VSaaS Datacenter: A Unified Surveillance Solution for Large Enterprises
AxxonSoft recently unveiled new features for its hybrid cloud surveillance solution, Axxon VSaaS Datacenter. It enables large companies to have a unified system across all their distributed locations. The solution provides centralized configuration, user management, health monitoring, alarm handling, reporting, and video monitoring through local and remote access with various client apps. These updates to Axxon VSaaS Datacenter were made in response to client requests and aim to provide a cost-effective and efficient solution for large enterprises.
The solution is designed to accommodate a mix of legacy and newly installed cameras connected to VMS servers, cameras with an AxxonSoft plugin streaming directly to the cloud, and cameras connected via Axxon Bridge appliances. The cloud-based component of the solution, which can be hosted either in the customer’s data center or in a public cloud, provides cloud-based VMS servers, user connection and rights management, health monitoring, and reporting.
The Axxon Bridge appliances, which are deployed on-premises and act as a connector between the cameras and the cloud VMS servers, require no special network configuration. The bridge creates a secure TLS encryption tunel tunnel to the cloud and transmits video feeds from the cameras. This makes it easier to maintain the security of a distributed system.
AxxonSoft has also added support for H.265 streams decoding in its web client, which can now be viewed in standard browsers such as Google Chrome that support the H.265 format. The decoding process is performed on the GPU, resulting in low CPU load and efficient use of resources.
With a large surveillance system, it’s critical to have robust user rights management. The Axxon VSaaS Datacenter solution provides just that. You can add users, combine them into groups, and assign specific roles (sets of rights) to users and groups for a given location. This provides a flexible and customizable solution for user management and security.
Another new feature is dashboards, configurable interfaces for presenting analytics data collected from all locations. For example, a dashboard for a retail store can display reports based on video analytics and data received from an integrated POS system. You can configure reports such as revenue (calculated from the POS integration), number of customers (determined by video analytics), suspicious cashier actions (such as items removed, price changes, or discounts — also from the POS integration), buying customers (the ratio of the number of receipts to the total number of customers over a period of time), and so on.
For system health monitoring, Axxon VSaaS Datacenter uses Prometheus, an open-source monitoring and alerting tool. Prometheus collects operational statistics from all cloud and on-premises VMS servers. Data is displayed using Grafana dashboards, and alerts are configured to quickly notify the system administrator of any failures.
In summary, Axxon VSaaS Datacenter offers a complete solution for large-scale video surveillance systems. It unifies fragmented systems and provides centralized control over system configuration, monitoring, reporting, and user management. With support for both legacy and new cameras, and both on-premises and cloud-based VMS servers, it delivers flexible options for remote video monitoring from various client applications. The system is efficient, cost-effective, secure, and well-suited for large enterprises with multiple distributed sites of varying types.
