Industrial CCTV Security Systems for Enhanced Facility Protection at SOTUBI, Tunisia

Introduction

Société Tunisienne de Biscuiterie (SOTUBI), a prominent biscuit manufacturer in Tunisia, faced increasing security demands as their facilities expanded. To safeguard their operations, manage access control, and monitor critical infrastructure, they required a comprehensive and scalable security solution. To meet these needs, SOTUBI enlisted the expertise of LBM Security and Services, a renowned integrator of industrial CCTV security systems.

The project involved implementing an advanced Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) solution, integrating video surveillance, access control, vehicle entry management, and emergency exit monitoring — all designed to work harmoniously within a unified security infrastructure.

Challenges

SOTUBI’s main challenges revolved around unifying disparate security systems across multiple facilities. The following requirements were critical:

  • Comprehensive video surveillance across all key areas using industrial CCTV security systems with smart tracking features.
  • Real-time monitoring of personnel and vehicle access.
  • Effective perimeter intrusion detection with instant response mechanisms.
  • Incident management and archiving with seamless access to historical data.
  • Integration of emergency exit management and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

SOTUBI needed a solution that not only addressed these issues but also offered future scalability and real-time incident orchestration.

Solution

LBM Security and Services implemented a fully integrated security solution using AxxonSoft’s PSIM platform customized to meet SOTUBI’s unique security demands. The solution encompassed:

1. Video Surveillance System

A comprehensive industrial CCTV security system was installed throughout the facility, combining several types of cameras and advanced detection features:

  • Dome, Panoramic, and Tube Cameras strategically covered all essential areas of the factory, providing seamless 24/7 surveillance.
  • Virtual Lines & Intrusion Detection provided automated alerts when virtual boundaries were breached, ensuring complete perimeter security.
  • PTZ Cameras with Auto-Tracking allowed for automatic tracking of objects or people, ensuring continuous surveillance of potential threats.
  • Event Classification & Archiving enabled operators to review video footage, pinpoint events on an interactive map, classify incidents (alarms, suspicious activities, false alarms), and add detailed comments for accurate incident management.

2. Access Control System

A sophisticated Access Control System was deployed across all entry points of the factory, ensuring only authorized personnel could gain access:

  • Authorized Access management provided real-time monitoring and control of all entry and exit points, with instant intervention capabilities in case of unauthorized access.
  • The industrial CCTV system offered seamless integration with other security components, such as video surveillance, to ensure a holistic approach to managing facility access.

3. Vehicle Entry Management

To regulate vehicle entry, a Vehicle Management System with LPR License Plate Recognition technology was implemented:

  • LPR Cameras and UHF Readers captured license plate data in real-time, facilitating instant logging of vehicles entering and exiting the premises.
  • Operators could search the archives for specific license plates, export event data, and view the historical timeline of captured plates. This functionality was critical for post-incident investigations.

4. Emergency Exit Management

The facility’s emergency exits were integrated into the security system, ensuring compliance with safety standards and allowing for real-time monitoring to prevent unauthorized access during non-emergencies.

5. Hypervisor Platform

A centralized Hypervisor System acted as the control hub for all security operations, delivering a real-time overview of the facility:

  • Live CCTV Monitoring: The hypervisor displayed live video feeds from all surveillance cameras, organized by zones and factory levels.
  • Interactive Layout Navigation: Operators could interactively navigate between different factory zones, customize layouts, and view surveillance feeds tailored to the security needs of each area.
  • Incident Orchestration & Alarm Management: The system provided a real-time list of all current events and triggered alarms, ensuring rapid response and resolution.
  • Equipment & Camera Management: All security equipment, including cameras, could be managed from an interactive facility map, offering quick access to any device by name.
  • Bookmarking & Event Tracking: Operators could bookmark critical events, ensuring quick reference and traceability, while the platform’s event search function made it easy to locate relevant incidents from both access control and video surveillance data.
  • Access & Incident Profiling: Incident details, including personnel profiles, could be accessed instantly, allowing operators to manage and modify access permissions in real-time.

Results

SOTUBI’s PSIM-based solution delivered a fully integrated industrial CCTV security system with enhanced situational awareness, incident management, and real-time orchestration. The key outcomes included:

  • Interconnected Video Surveillance: The deployment of various camera types and smart detection features provided seamless monitoring across the facility, ensuring that no incident went unnoticed.
  • Harmonized Access Control: Access control was synchronized with the video surveillance system, allowing security teams to manage personnel access and incidents through a single platform.
  • Real-Time Event Orchestration: The hypervisor platform enabled real-time event management, drastically improving the security team’s response times.
  • Integrated Data & Archiving: The ability to archive and review historical data, coupled with event classification and tracking, provided SOTUBI with a powerful investigative tool.
  • System Interoperability: All security systems — surveillance, access control, vehicle management — worked in harmony, creating an efficient and secure facility environment.
  • Consolidated Security Management: SOTUBI’s security infrastructure was consolidated into one cohesive network, creating a unified, powerful, and scalable system capable of addressing current and future needs.

Conclusion

LBM Security and Services successfully transformed SOTUBI’s security environment into a unified, integrated ecosystem powered by Axxon PSIM’s industrial CCTV security systems solutions. With advanced surveillance, real-time event orchestration, and seamless access control, SOTUBI now operates with enhanced security, optimized incident response, and improved overall operational efficiency. This project is a testament to the power of a well-implemented PSIM solution that provides both immediate security benefits and long-term scalability.
